I was grateful to have kicked off the month of June in Belgrade, Serbia, for the Serbian Prosthodontics Society Meeting – an outstanding event for networking and catching up with colleagues, alongside another great moment onstage speaking to an incredible audience.
A few weeks ago, I had the honour of lecturing in Belgrade for the leading Prosthodontics Society. I was given full freedom to speak from the heart – and I chose to focus on topics that are foundational to everything we do at the White Clinic.
I spoke about the importance of ethics, of taking the time to do things properly, and of having the courage to say “no” – whether to patients or to colleagues – when something isn’t evidence-based or in the best interest of long-term health.
Modern dentistry is an incredibly demanding field. Many clinicians are overwhelmed, burnt out, and unsure how to navigate complex decisions. But the truth is: most complications can be avoided with proper diagnostics, powerful patient communication, and intelligent treatment planning.
Just like in construction, you need architecture before you can build. Diagnostics is our architecture. Only with a clear plan can the “builders” – the surgeons, the prosthodontists, the technicians – create something lasting and beautiful.
I also highlighted the importance of using only high-quality materials. Just as poor nutrition can harm the body over time, cheap materials in dentistry can jeopardise a patient’s systemic health. Biological dentistry demands better.
Thank you, Serbia, for such a warm welcome and for the opportunity to connect with brilliant minds. I look forward to returning!
