In last week’s edition of Prevenir, a Portuguese lifestyle magazine, you can read my contribution to an article on how to make the best of the time you spend in the shower. The article was written in collaboration with my colleague, the dermatologist Dr. Leonor Girào, and it was actually very interesting to see how we can tweak our shower routine here and there to make it more effective.
Not only is the shower the best place to take care of our skin, it is also a good moment to take our oral hygiene up a notch.
All you have to do is to take you brushing habits into the shower and add small steps to it that can make a big difference. Always make sure you’re brushing your teeth at least for 2 minutes, with a soft brush and gentle movements. If you’re afraid to take your electric brush into the shower, don’t be: just make sure you clean it regularly.
Another tip, that I’ve already mentioned here, is to floss when you’re pausing to condition your hair. This is a great way to always remember to floss and make sure you don’t skip this step!
One last tip: if you’re using a fluoride toothpaste (and you should), don’t rinse after brushing your teeth: this will maximize its beneficial effects.
You can check out all these tips and useful advice in the article below.
